Sparkly Bling-bling
I’m still in the process of packing my bags for San Francisco for the Romance Writers of America National Conference, and once again, I’ve hit that stage where I question whether I have everything. An hour ago, I suddenly remembered that I hadn’t packed any jewelry to wear with the fancy dresses. My Grandma gave me some vintage necklaces that are sparkly and fun to wear. They’re just costume jewels, but it’s nice to have an occasion to dress up. I’m channeling my daughter right now, with the princessy stuff.
Really, though, my husband got off easy. On the whole, I don’t wear a lot of jewelry. I wear my wedding rings, a pair of earrings, and the occasional watch. It’s not often that I wear a necklace, and I tend to go for the pearls or something fairly classic. I’ve never felt the urge to go out and buy jewelry. I’d much rather have books. :book: Then again, perhaps my book budget rivals other women’s jewelry budgets.
What’s your favorite, must-have piece of jewelry? Do you like sparkly stones? Gold or silver? I’m a gold girl, myself.
Donna Alward Says:
Im a gold girl as well, though I’ve been wearing more silver lately.
I don’t wear a lot of jewelry, but I am a SUCKER for it. Just like a crow – anything sparkly and I’m there. However I don’t go for big and ostentatious. One of my favourite things (and I didn’t buy it, but I let a heroine wear it) was a silver and sapphire necklace. The necklace was all little sapphire leaves and it was feminine and stunning.

Mine definitely does. I wear very little jewelry. I choose silver or white gold when I wear it at all. Have a blast at conference.
Treasia Says:
I honestly have never been into the bling of jewelry. I wear my wedding rings, promise ring, and watch. When I do wear jewelry or get new pieces they had better be white gold or silver.
Tori Lennox Says:
I don’t do jewelry. But I’m always drooling over necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings that only a millionaire could afford. *g*
Lexi Connor Says:
Earrings. I LOVE earrings. Other than that, I’m not much of a jewelry woman. I have a Celtic ring I wear on my thumb and a few necklaces. I don’t do bracelets because my wrists are so small they ALWAYS end up by my elbows.
I agree I’d rather have books than jewelry! Give me the money for jewels and I’ll buy plenty of prize-winning novels!
Missie Says:
I love jewelry, but I am just as happy with something cute and cheap as with something expensive. Since I work from home, I have gotten out of the habit of wearing anything other than earrings. I have a friend who dresses up even a tshirt and shorts with coordinating jewelry, and she looks adorable. I want to be her when I grow up.
My daughter is into jewelry bigtime already…and she’s only three. I have a feeling that our jewelry budget will be astronomical when she is a teen.
Suzanne Says:
I way prefer silver, but I don’t wear a lot of jewelry, mostly none! Unless it’s those few times a year I dress up. Then it’s fun!
Heidi Dahlquist Says:
I’m a white gold girl. As for jewlery, I wear a white gold celtic cross which I never take off. For formal jewlery, I always go with my pearls. I don’t have very much jewlery, but I sure love looking at it.
I don’t even wear my wedding rings, becasue with being at the hospital the prongs tend to snag the gloves.
