Adventures in False Labor

So, Saturday night was somewhat exciting. After an hour and a half of contractions two minutes apart, we decided to go ahead and go to the hospital. They monitored me for another hour, but no progress. I walked the hospital hallways for a second hour…nothing. After three hours, they decided to send me home with a sleeping pill. Clearly this child is not coming out until it’s good and ready. I was quite disappointed that my doctor wasn’t on call because I swear, the man would have just given me a little Pitocin cocktail and we’d have been on the way. But, no. I am consoling myself with retail therapy (I need new pots and pans). Calphalon sounds good….

Here’s the current baby pool:

Monday 19th
Judy P. girl 12:30PM. 7lbs.
Tuesday 20th
Bonnie 6:30 a.m. boy 8 pounds 6 oz. 22 inches long
Crystal B. 1:38 pm girl 8 pounds 13 oz 21 inches long
Thursday 22nd
Beth M. 9:00 a.m. girl 7.14lbs
Friday 23rd
Julie C. 4:00 a.m. boy 8.2lbs
Saturday 24th
Holly noon boy 7.9 lbs 19.5 inches
Thursday 29th
Jeanne S. 11:29 boy 8.4 lbs 21 inches

Still working my way through revisions, right in the murky middle right now. I always hit a snag where I spend 2 days reworking a single scene and then I’ll blast my way through another 50 pages. Don’t know why, but that seems to be the way of it. Hopefully I can get this book sent off soon. :typing: In the meantime, maybe I’ll go bake some bread or plow a field.

Calphalon is awesome. I love mine.

Got my fingers crossed for revisions finishing up soon! (And baby coming, obviously…though I want it to hang in til Thursday ;) )

Hmm, plowing a field might help. You might have the baby right there, as women used to do. Then just bundle him/her up and carry on. :-))

Seriously, good luck with the delivery, whenever s/he decides to make an appearance, and also with the book revisions.

P.S. That vocabulary-for-rice site *is* addictive!

I wonder if there’s any truth to how a baby arrives in comparison to how they behave in real life. My daughter was in a hurry to be born- came early and quickly and she hasn’t slowed down since.

Let’s hope this baby isn’t as pokey after its born as it is right now otherwise you’ll find yourself hollering “Hurry up! It’s time to go!” “The bus is coming!” “Quit dawdling!” :rotf:

I have found that free rice site addictive too!

Glad your sense of humor has remained in tact. :) Hoping baby arrives soon! Get along there li’l baby!

Sending you good delivery vibes, Michelle!

Go work in the rice patty.

Hugs, Michelle! I hope it’s soon!

Wishing you good thoughts on a easy and painless as possible delivery. My sister-in-law rode with her husband on their four-wheeler on her 2nd pregnancy all day on a ride and went into labor that evening. Maybe that will help. Hope everyone has a great evening.

    Leanne :cheer: :snoopy:

I pick Thanksgiving, about 4:30pm, after Turkey but before pie. Wait, what am I saying? A pregnant woman can have pie first if she wants! Okay, revise my pick to Thursday, about 4:30pm, a baby girl, eight pounds and thirteen ounces. And if I am right, you can name her after me! :rotf:

  9. Christy H. Says:

I feel bad for you. Baby must be waiting for Thanksgiving so you’ll have something to be really thankful for. lol

My new guess: Tuesday, the 20th ~ 7 lbs. 4 oz., 20 inches long, at 5:13 p.m. - and baby girl.

  10. KimW Says:

    My new guess….the 21st, a girl, 7.3 lbs.

  11. Michelle Styles Says:

Oh hugs. Hear’s hoping your doctor — will say that the baby is cooked and it is time to induce very soon.

I am going to say November 23rd (which is MY 31st birthday, and therefore an awesome day to be born), 7 lbs 15 oz, and 19 inches long.

Good luck. *g* Just think, if you have your baby this week, every 7 years or so, the kid gets to share a birthday with a turkey dinner. Mine was last year. Nothing more exciting than Thanksgiving dinner followed by birthday cake. ;)
