Baby Watch, Day two
So, no baby yesterday. Although, at 7:00 p.m. or so, I was having some pretty fierce contractions. I was very close to going to the hospital, but my gut told me it was false labor. And so it was. The biggest dilemma for me is, I tend to have contractions that START at two minutes apart. That’s what happened with my son, and I was convinced that I was delusional. After all, the childbearing books say that you are supposed to have them 15 minutes apart, then ten, then five, and that’s when you go to the hospital. I remember staring at the clock thinking, um…what do you do when they start at 2 minutes apart? Luckily we did go to the hospital, and I had my son within three hours. It was pretty scary for a first time birth because it was nothing like what I expected.
Last night, when things started kicking in at two minutes apart, I was debating on whether to call my neighbor to come watch the kids. It just seemed too surreal. But the contractions weren’t like the ones with my other two, so I was holding off. I hate that scenario of–Is this it? Or is it false labor? Ugh.
In any case, I’ll try to check in daily, now that I’m on maternity leave. If I go MIA, you’ll know that I’m probably in the hospital and will post munchkin pictures when I get back. In the meantime, I’ll be working on the second draft of my book, revising and polishing (Melissa Mc. had asked me if I was a draft writer). I was doing well yesterday up until the point when the painful contractions hit. But either way, I still have plenty of time to finish.
I’m writing down the guesses for everyone. Here’s what I have so far (I took off those who guessed yesterday):

Okay I’ll guess again! I’ll say that you have the baby on Tuesday Novemebr 20th at 6:30 AM. I’ll stick with my previous guess about weight and gender etc. The baby will be a boy and he’ll weigh eight pounds, six ounces and be 22 inches long.

I’ll just leave a casserole.

Oh, Michelle. Deja Vu. When I had my son, I remember sitting at my computer writing. The contractions hit. I never knew what contractions felt like coming on because my water had broke prematurely with my daughter so was induced. But they came on so fast (like a couple of minutes apart) that I knew it had to be false labor. Sure enough!
Good luck! I’ll be praying for you and the little one!
Leanne Says:

Michelle,
I said today, yesterday.
And I still think it will be today.
My third child, my contractions were 15 minutes, 2 minutes, 15, minutes, 2 minutes. And they were painful. We live outside of town and I thought okay, it won’t hurt to go check things out. Sure enough, when I got in there I was dilated to 8 1/2, I hadn’t been in there for 45 minutes and the boy was delivered.
My fourth, my water broke, with my quick delivery history we high tailed it to the hospital. I had one contraction an hour for 14 hours, that was it.
My fingers are crossed for today.
