Baby Watch, Halloween, and Finishing Books, Oh My!
My brain has been in lockdown mode. I’m 20 pages away from finishing this book. You know how you hear stories of women frantically cleaning their houses in preparation for a baby? Me? Not so much. My instincts are more in line with, Oh-Lord-I’d-Better-Finish-This-Book-Before-I-Give-Birth-Because-I-Will-Have-No-Brain-Left. I’ve been knuckling down, trying to wrap up the rough draft. This would be easier if I weren’t at the Fear of the Ending stage. Those of you who know me well, understand that once I hit the point where I’m within reach of the end, I start panicking and second-guessing myself. The writing grinds to a screeching halt and I’m lucky if I finish 2 pages a night. It’s just a mental game. I get over it and it all ends up okay in the second draft, but I have to constantly remind myself that it’s okay to write an undercooked scene because I’ll fix it later.
I saw the doctor today, and he reminded me that if I started in real labor or my water broke that I needed to get to the hospital IMMEDIATELY.
Well, duh.
My co-workers threw me a surprise baby shower today, which was the nicest end to my day. I never saw it coming. We enjoyed cake, drinks, and they gave me a gift card to Babies R Us. I love the people I work with.
Anyway, thought I’d leave you with these pictures of my beautiful kidlets, all dressed up for trick-or-treating.
