Favorite Fall Foods

I am a complete sucker for certain fall foods. Candy apples are one, along with caramel apples. Oh, sure, they’re carnival food, but when the apples are in season I get cravings of all sorts.

I’m also in love with candy corn. It’s so easy to just grab a handful on my way out the kitchen, in the kitchen, while I’m cooking…um, you get the idea. My poor unborn baby is probably shaking on a sugar high right now. And Halloween is coming, so of course we bought our candy early and we have to taste-test it to be sure it’s fit for trick-or-treaters. :chocolate:

I think I’m going to have it easy this Halloween. My son wants to be a green Power Ranger again and my daughter wants to be a princess. Since we already have both costumes, I’m fine with that. I could probably wear an orange shirt and look like a jack-o-lantern, but I’m not that tacky. Usually. :)

I should probably get around to buying some Halloween decorations. It’s always fun to see what the neighbors come up with, but I’m so bad about decorating. I haven’t an artistic bone in my body. On the bright side, the spiders have been happily spinning their webs along our front door entrance, so I’ll probably just leave them up there. You know, environmentally safe Halloween decorations. :rotf:

My favorite season for decorating, hands-down, is Christmas. It’s a lot of work, but I do enjoy seeing the wreaths and the garlands. The house always looks so nice during the holidays.

What about you? Do you decorate for the minor holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving? Or do you just do the major ones like Christmas?

LOL re your environmentally safe decorations! We usually just do Christmas. But a lot of people around here really get into the Halloween decorating.

We always decorate for Christmas. I love putting the lights up outside and the other decorations, plus the tree of course. I start getting in the Christmas spirit right before Thanksgiving, and start the day after decorating.(after I get back from shopping on black friday). Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I decorate heavily for both Halloween and Christmas. The neighbor’s don’t follow my Halloween decor, they have told me they like to see what I do each year. As for Christmas, there is always a competition between the men in the neighborhood to see how has the best lights.

I used to decorate for Christmas, and loved it. Not so much in the last handful of years, though, on my own. And with no children, I don’t bother with with minor holidays, either. But I do enjoy looking at everyone else’s holiday decorations!

I’ve noticed, however, a significant decline in house decorations [exterior] in the city over the past several years. And last year, only a handful of people in my entire neighbourhood had lights/decorations up. Maybe everyone heads south over the holidays (I’m in Ontario, Canada).

I decorate for all the holidays. For Halloween, we put up the spider webs and have pumpkin lights and bat icisicle (sp?) lights, too. Thanksgiving is only inside, but I do a bunch of fall stuff with small pumpkins and Turkeys and then Christmas is full-blown inside and out, including a whole setup of Dept. 56 villages.

I just love the decorating for whatever season it is!

I decorate in extremes when it comes to Christmas. I think it’s a genetic trait I inherited from my mom, who always went all out, as did my grandpa, her dad.

For other holidays, it just depends on how busy life is at the time…a lot of the time I just put up spring/summer/fall stuff, though I do have a fiberoptic jack-o-lantern my MIL got me a few years ago that’s out for Halloween and I have some fall/Halloween stuff up in my kitchen, along with the phony cobwebs and spiders, though I’m sure I have some real ones lurking about elsewhere in the house. LOL

Most of the time my “fall” decor carries over Halloween and Thanksgiving though, but as soon as the middle of November starts inching closer, I’m ready to take it all down and put up the tree and my Christmas decorations.

As for fall foods…mine here lately hasn’t been foods necessarily, but today I did get some apple cider, cinnamon sticks, cloves and I’ve got ginger..going to make some mulled cider…yummy!

I just decorate for Christmas. I LOVE that time of year.

I think one of my favorite things to decorate at Christmas time is Christmas cookies! :scream:

I love to bake cookies at Christmas too….I forgot to mention I decorate for St.Patricks Day. I’m the only one in the neighborhood who does, and with my Irish heritage it would be wrong not to celebrate it!Besides green is my favoriet color :snoopy:
