Final Approach

The booksigning went really well on Saturday. Thanks to all who came! I really appreciated the support.

Right now I feel like I’m on final approach for many things. First and foremost, I have 7 weeks left until my delivery date. Of course, given my history, this may translate into 5 weeks. It’s always a strange period of time when you start moving toward your child’s birth. There’s both a sense of anticipation and a very slight fear. I’m not worried about the labor, but I know that life will change again when I go back to the 2 a.m. feedings and being at the beck and call of a newborn. It’s a good thing, though. I look forward to the snuggle time. And…being able to wear a pair of pants without an elastic waistband.

I’m also on final approach for this fourth book (Slave to Her Desires). Only about 80 or so pages left to go. :typing: I do see a lot of revisions and fleshing out. I had hoped to be completely done with the book by Halloween, but I think I’ll be shooting for the rough draft to be completed by then. We’ll see. My characters keep doing some surprising things, and I like to let them have a little bit of free rein.

I’ve been thinking about book 5, too. Many readers have commented that they’d like to see a book about Trahern or Ewan. I do have story ideas, but I haven’t written out proposals yet. My editor wanted to give Ewan a chance to grow up first. :) But, I’m mulling over the idea of doing one of their stories for book 5 in my contract. Hard to say. Ewan is one of my favorite characters, so I want to make sure that his book is fabulous when I do write it. For those of you who have read my books, feel free to share your thoughts.

Amy tagged me to share 8 weird things about me. I think I’ve done this one before, but I’ll share a few food-related random things.
1. I like black jelly beans.
2. I worship Cadbury’s Creme Eggs and Cadbury’s Picnic Bars.
3. My favorite ice cream is Rocky Road
4. I don’t like mayonnaise on sandwiches, except BLT’s.
5. I don’t drink brewed coffee very often…I drink girly coffee, e.g. the General Foods International Coffees made from a mix. Right now I’m drinking the French Vanilla kind because it’s decaffeinated. Can’t wait to get back to my Cafe Francais.
6. My favorite kind of pizza is pepperoni, usually Papa John’s.
7. I’m not really into cake. I like pies better.
8. I used to hate red wine, but now it’s one of my favorites (a good Merlot or Shiraz). Sadly, I’ve haven’t had a glass of wine since Valentine’s Day.

Want to share any weird food trends about yourself?

Wow, 7 weeks??? I know you don’t want to hear how fast your pregnancy has gone for me. But how exciting!

Is that Kacey’s influence on #8? :snoopy:

  2. Julie Cohen Says:

I remember the Picnic bars…

My favourite ice cream is Grape Nut. It’s regular vanilla ice cream with Grape Nuts cereal in it. I’ve tried just putting Grape Nuts on my ice cream but it’s not the same, you have to buy it already mixed in.

Good luck with the book and the countdown. I’m also trying to figure out who to write my next book about.

I think Trahern and Ewan would make fabulous heroes! :scream:

In terms of weird food trends? I often like to eat lunch or supper foods for breakfast and vice versa.

You absolutely MUST write about Trahern and Ewan! Can’t wait. :) Glad the other is going well and I’m with Amy, your pregnancy has gone very quickly for those of us who aren’t plagued by all the pesky symptoms, trials, and tribulations thereof. :)

I don’t know that I have any weird food things - other than the fact that I’ve never minded being mildly allergic to shellfish cause I don’t like the texture of it.

  5. Kim A. Says:

No weird food trends for me, either. I like too many foods, too often. LOL.

I’m still reading “Her Irish Warrior,” but presumed Ewan would have his own story at some point.

Meanwhile, I’m looking forward to “The Warrior’s Touch” arriving my mailbox!

Good luck with the final 80 pages! You can do it! Once again we’re on the same schedule! I’m shooting for my rough draft to be done by Halloween too so I have a month to polish. I’m tired of always banging up against deadlines and would like some breathing room.

As for weird food things, I like to eat all of one thing before moving onto the next. That is all my veggies or the main course, etc. I don’t like mixing them up.

  7. Melissa W Says:

Have to agree the last few weeks of pregnancy you do feel out of sorts, a in limbo type of feeling.

Also I love the family you’ve been writing about and would like to delve again into the world you’ve built with them in it.

Lastly, we share number 7, but I really hate cake. Could have been the tramatic event of eating too much icing when I was little, but I avoid cake at all cost.

Here’s hoping the last 80 pages fly by.

  8. Kelly Says:

Wow, just 7 weeks to go! That’ll fly by.

Strange food trends…Not really. I drink a lot of coffee, and I don’t like drinking from a mug with a black inside to it. I don’t know why. I blame my father. He’s the same way. Some weird genetic thing I guess.

  9. Leanne Says:

The countdown begins. :cheer: I would love to see Trahern and Ewan’s stories. As for the last 80 pages, don’t worry. I know you knock through them in no time. Only weird food habit I really have is eating vanilla ice cream and snider’s chips together. Hope everyone has a great day today.

    Only 7 more weeks? WOW!
