The unconscious author in the corner…
That would be me. In case you’re wondering why I’ve dropped off the planet, it’s because school started this week. With kids. And I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck repeatedly. Oh, the kids are fine. The problem is, I’m a very active teacher and I tend to cruise the room while I’m teaching. On Tuesday when I got back from work, my back was killing me, along with my feet. It occurred to me that I’d been walking for about seven hours straight, not the brightest thing to do when you’re seven months pregnant. Oops.
Today I forced myself to sit down a little more, and it was better, but I have a hard time just sitting and teaching. It just doesn’t work for me.
Sunday’s booksigning was a lot of fun! Here is Larissa Ione on the left and me on the right at the Borders in Newport News.
And below is a picture of me with the lovely display the Borders staff created. There was an enormous bookrack to my left, with about 80 copies of my books. You can see some of the shelves here. (Please look at the books and not the way my poor body has bloated up to the size of an elephant. I am now reaching the huge stage.)

Tomorrow if I can pull together a few brain cells, I’ll share some photos I took of my son’s first day of kindergarten. And you’ll be proud of me–I didn’t cry once. But I did give him an awfully big hug at the door. ![]()

I think you look lovely. But the books are pretty too.
Yay for back to school and not crying as your big kid goes to Kindergarten!
leanne Says:
I loved your new book and think the cover looks great. I’m glad you had a great time at the signing. As for the pregnant look, I think you look great, your whole face just seems to light up. The kindergarden thing, I think you did a lot better than I probably will in another 4 years. Right now I can’t even stand to think about my baby girl starting.
Hope everyone has a great evening.

Bonnie Ferguson Says:
I agree with Beth and Leanne, you look lovely!
Holly Says:
You look lovely! And what a great set up the store had for your books! How very very cool!
I hope I’m half as strong as you come next August when my baby girl starts kindergarten. I get misty thinking about it right now, especially when she asks or talks about how she can’t wait to go to school and she pretends to do homework and calls me “Teacher.”
Hope you get some rest and relaxation time soon. Take it easy on them tootsies…don’t want them swelling up on you!
Lexi Connor Says:
Yes, you, your books and the poster look great! Take it easy in the classroom (says she with her own aching feet and weary body from ALSO wandering around the room).
Tori Lennox Says:
You do NOT look like an elephant. Silly girl. Gotta say, though, that blow-up of your cover is hot hot hot!
Suzanne Says:
You look great, Michelle!!!!
heidi dahlquist Says:
I think you look great Michelle. Take it easy with the walking. I know how that can be, when I taught psychology I walked quite a bit! Right now Im suffering through some torn left thigh muscles and as a nursing student it’s killer when I stand for eight hours.
BTW, the display looked great at Barnes and Noble!!

Allison Littlehales Says:
The display looked great, Michelle and so do you. You are not huge by any means, but (wagging finger) you must look after yourself and your bump. Rest as much as you can.
Well done for keeping it together for the first day of Kindergarten. You did better than I did with Livvy!
Connor’s cover is amazing. I can’t wait to get the book in my hot little hands and drool over him in the flesh.
Kelly Says:
Yay! Check you out! I picked up the book last week. Can’t wait to read it!!
