Feelin’ Hot, Hot, Hot
The weather here in Virginia has hit the 90’s, and the humidity is through the roof. On days like this, I’m happy to just stay indoors with the air conditioning running. The problem is, my yard is now on life-support, hanging in there by the mercy of the sprinklers. We desperately need to get a sprinkler system, because our grass just turns brown in July. I have joked in the past about my Harlequin advance money going toward a refrigerator, then chairs. Next, it’ll be a Harlequin Sprinkler System, I imagine.
Last night I watched “The Pursuit of Happyness” with Will Smith. I hadn’t seen the movie before, and it was quite a tear-jerker in parts. But then again, any kind of movie with a parent fighting to give their kid a better life just gets me. Especially since I have a five-year-old, and I could completely relate.
Next week I need to inventory my wardrobe for RWA. I found 2 dresses that might fit, but I’m still not at the stage where I really look pregnant. I look like I have a beer gut.
On the bright side, the munchkin seems to be doing well, and it kicks around quite a bit. If it’s a boy, we have a few names picked out. If it’s a girl, we’re hosed. Not a clue what we’d call her. The names we don’t like far outnumber the ones we do like. It’s a tough call.
Today I am hoping to finish my proposal for the new book and send it off to my agent. I’ve got everything but the last 2 paragraphs of the synopsis. I have also consumed about half a bag of potato chips, in order to provoke inspiration, but so far that doesn’t seem to be working.
I did, however, inhale two books by JR Ward over the past two days–Dark Lover and Lover Eternal. Wow! She’s quite an author. Now I have to get my hot little hands on books 3 and 4…
One quick question for you. Has anyone seen “The Holiday?” Was it good? I’m in the mood for another chick flick while my husband’s away on travel.

Good luck with the proposal, Michelle!

Haven’t seen the Holiday, so can’t help out from personal experience. But I have two friends who have seen it - one was pro, the other was con. So…really helpful, I realize.
I’m in the reverse situation re: names. Our little possible is a boy…I have no boy names. I could name girls for the rest of my life with no problem. On the other hand, all I’ve ever wanted is boys. Not sure why I have all these girl names stocked up. So, if you want girl names a la Beth, just ask.
Melissa Mc Says:
I really enjoyed The Holiday. I think Jack Black was miscast, but Jude Law is at his most adorable and Kate Winslet is a great character. Highly recommend it when hubby’s away. That’s when I watched it.
Holly Says:
Oh I loved The Pursuit of Happyness….heartbreaking to think what that man really went through to make a better life for him and his son.
I ditto Melissa on The Holiday- I enjoyed it, hubby wasn’t thrilled with the ending, but I liked it nonetheless.
Glad that baby is doing well. As for names…you might try an internet search for names. I did that a week or so ago to freshen up my “character” name lists and there are tremendous sites with a lot of names, girls, boys or unisex. Best of luck finding just the right one.
Hope you get the last two paragraphs knocked out in no time and get that proposal sent off.
Suzanne Says:
Just get one of those “Beer Delivery Guy” t-shirts and you’ll be all set!

I enjoyed both movies and probably the Will smith movie the most because I knew it was taken from real life. Holiday is a nice chick flick. I must say I’m not one for contrived HEA but most people probably enjoy it that way lol.
Lexi Connor Says:
I LOVED The Holiday! It’s definitely worth seeing while hubby’s away!
MaryF Says:
I didn’t like Pursuit of Happyness and thought The Holiday was just meh. But I loved Jack Black in it!
Kelly Says:
I loved, loved, loved The Holiday. Pursuit of Happyness was pretty good, but kind of a downer even though it ended well.
I usually go to babynames.com I think it is when I’m looking for character names. And I was just on one for 2000 Dog Names which is not help for you naming your baby, but was a big help to me picking out names for my next pooch!

Glad to hear you are going to National again this year. Your publisher spotlight updates were excellent. I have added your blog to the blogroll for Blogging National for 2007.
