Sugar, sugar everywhere

The one downside to holidays is all the candy hanging around the house. There may come a day when I let my kids just gorge themselves silly on the stuff, in order to get it out of the house! For now, we ration it out a few pieces a day. Even so, my daughter has a low tolerance and even one lollipop makes her behave like I’ve given her an amphetamine. :snoopy:

Still, I think there is a candy conspiracy going around. No sooner do you get rid of Halloween candy, but you end up with Christmas stocking candy. Then Valentine’s candy. Then Easter candy, and so on until you suddenly realize there’s a reason why you haven’t been able to shed those last five pounds. Oops.

For me, Easter is the worst. Those of you who’ve kept up with my blog know that I have an unhealthy obsession with Cadbury’s Creme Eggs. Oh sweet heaven. European chocolate is so much better than American. It’s to die for. And then there are the jelly beans. I’ve loved jelly beans since I was a kid. And God help me, those forms of torture are already in the stores. I’m trying to show restraint.

Ash Wednesday is coming up soon, and many people give up something, usually a bad habit, during that season. My own personal sacrifices need a little work, I think. Last year I gave up exercise. Another year, I gave up Diet sodas in favor of the real thing.

This year, I haven’t decided what to give up. Cleaning the house comes to mind.

How about you? If you could give up a bad habit, what would it be?

I’d give up procrastination…but I keep putting that off. :rotf:

    LOL, Gina.

I still haven’t figured what I’m giving up for Lent. I already gave up housework and hired a cleaner almost a year ago. I figured that’s what royalties were for:)

My Easter candy weakness is the Cadbury mini eggs. Oh wow. AWESOME.

    ROFLOL @ Gina’s comment!!!

I gave up crisps for Lent last year and I’d planned to give up chocolate this year… But, seeing as I had a hamper of chocolates from hubby on the 14th, I don’t think that’s going to happen somehow :chocolate:

I guess that leaves me with trying to give up procrastination too… if only I could.

    Sue :-)

Oh, Cadbury Eggs. The joy. The rapture.

I really should give up Coke, or actually any kind of soda pop. I reach a saturation level and feel like the Staypuft Marshmallow Man.

I’m giving up the giving up of bad habits.

I gave up giving things up for Lent a while ago. But then, I’m not actually Catholic so we’re not “required” to give something up. However, that said…I could stand to give up chocolate. Or breathing. I think breathing might be the easier one.

Oh I wish I wasn’s such a pack rat and would like to give up keeping everything just in case.

Oh, the Easter candy I can’t live without is Cadbury’s caramel eggs. Yummy! But I can live with just having one per season. I can’t decide what to give up either. I could give up candy, but I’m not really a candy freak. I could give up caffeine, but I’m down to one cup of tea a day and if I give that up I’ll go into withdrawal. I could give up drinking, but what fun would St. Patrick’s Day be? And I’ve got to practice drinking Guinness for Ireland! Hhmmm, must think some more.

Does gluttony count as a habit? Because I’d give up that. Right after I horf down chocolate.
