So what did you spend your advance money on?

I’m in love. Today, something new arrived in my life. Something wonderful, purchased with my book advance money.

Are you ready for it?

Introducing my new baby:
Maytag refrigerator

Only mine is black. I was tired of having frozen salads. Ever try to slice a frozen cucumber? It doesn’t work. So I am thrilled to now have my very own slide out trays, a shelf that I can crank up and down, and yogurt holders! Doesn’t every refrigerator need yogurt cup holders? :shimmy:

My previous refrigerator came with the house and I have no idea how old it was, except that it was a minimum of 10 years old. That puppy was on borrowed time. Not anymore, baby. It’s gone to that big refrigerator heaven in the sky. The new refrigerator is mine, all mine! Wooo! :scream:

Yes, I am a sad and pitiful author. Yes, I clearly need to get out of the house more. I am aware of this. But honestly, isn’t it the most amazing refrigerator EVER? :worthy:

So what appliance in your household desperately needs replacing?

Whatever chills your yogurt cups, baby! :woot: The fridge is very pretty and I am sure you two will be happy together.

I would like my whole house replaced with a self-cleaning model.

Michelle– I spent mine on a fridge too!! Mine is one of the cream 1950s retro style ones, and every now and again when I’m getting the milk out I have this little glow of happiness and pride that I bought it with the advance for my first book. (Mostly though I’m too busy shouting at the kids or stuffing my face with chocolate biscuits to think about it, though.)

oh MAN, I lust after that fridge! In stainless steel please! Oh, and I love the ice/water on the door. And the bottom freezer in that kind of fridge. Yep, that’s what I want.

Do you just want to sit in your kitchen and stare at it???

    Michelle,
    It’s beautiful! :snoopy:

Ooh, nice fridge! We bought a new fridge a year ago, but it isn’t big enough and I’m already thinking of replacing it.

  6. Kelly Says:

Oooohhhh shiney! My Mom has one just like it and she loves it. Good choice!

  7. Amie Stuart Says:

LOL I spent mine on braces (for the kids) which probably cost more than that gorgeous fridge! :(

My next advance is going toward new floors for the house though (or a new stove/kitchen remodel depending on which drives me nuts first).

I love the new fridge, Michelle!!! I’m thinking we need one like that. Ours isn’t old, but we all really hate it.

  9. Michelle Says:

India–That’s hilarious. I’ve named mine the Harlequin Fridge. :) Now I just want a Harlequin couch and 2 chairs to go with it…

Amie–Yikes on the braces. But new floors sound fabulous!

    Kacey–yes, I stare at it a lot. It’s beautiful. :)

Missie–when you find that self-cleaning house, I will have to fight you for it. :slap:

  10. Robyn Says:

Gorgeous! I want the robotic vacuum cleaner disc that roams the house sucking up dirt and then goes back into its hole.

  11. Rene Says:

I love the freezer on the bottom!

I’m getting a whole bunch of new appliances in March when the kitchen is remodeled. I bought two new dishwashers, a cooktop, a range hood, a trash compactor, a microwave oven and a warming drawer.

Now that’s loooooovely, Michelle! I bow to your fridge… We’re pretty good for appliances, and we’re still very much in lust with our dishwasher, which is now about four months old.

Although the washing machine is nine years old and starting to get a bit rattly. I hope it keeps going for a while yet, it’s been so reliable and such a hard worker all these years! Even when we kept it in a shed outside, and insulated it with blankets in the winter…

    ;-)

Very nice, Michelle!!!! I like it!!

  14. MaryF Says:

Nice! When I sell, it will be something for the house, too. No idea - depends on how long it takes ;)

  15. jaq Says:

Ooooh, love the fridge!! Congrats! I’m looking to buy a new range, stove, washer, dryer. In that order. lol.

Whew. That is one HOT fridge - we don’t generally get ‘em that big in the UK. BTW I have spent some of my dosh on a 20th wedding anniversary trip to the Caribbean in May with my lovely OH.
