The Annual Halloween Parade

Every year, my children’s daycare hosts a Halloween party and parade. It’s tomorrow, and I’m looking forward to seeing the kids’ costumes. It amazes me what they come up with nowadays. Everything from Thomas the Tank Engine, to a chicken, to Darth Vader. Last year my son was Yoda Yoda but this year, the boy had no desire to be one with the Force. Instead, he wants to be a green Power Ranger. I blame my sister-in-law. It’s not a show I’m fond of, but clearly I must be missing something. So in the morning, he will don his superhero costume and go off to battle the evils of Circle Time. :rotfl: I’ll post pictures later on.

My daughter waffles between being a princess and being Barney. Since I never bought a Barney costume, she gets to wear a purple princess gown, courtesy of Grandma. I actually have a tiara from an old Halloween costume I had as a child, but she refuses to wear it. We’ll see how this goes. I do think she’ll love trick-or-treating, since candy is involved. :chocolate:

What are your kids wearing for their costumes? Or if you don’t have kids, do you ever dress up for Halloween? :halloween:

We actually have three sets of Halloween costumes. For the costume reel trophy dance two will do on Sunday at an Irish dance feis, they will be Darth Vader and Padme (last year’s costumes.) For our church trunk or treat, they will be St. Irene, St. Sebastian and St. Rose. For trick or treating later that night, they will be a grecian princess, Xmen Wolverine and a pink princess.

My son was a power ranger two years ago. My daughter was one, too. I think you have to be a kid to get it. I sure don’t.

The girl is a gypsy with so much bling you’ll go blind if you look straight at her. The boy is going as Legolas. He can’t bring the bow to school, but the long blond wig is no problem.

My son is going to be a mad scientist (I suspect this is the last year he will dress up). My one daughter is going to be a velvet snow princess (some foo foo costume she found at Target) and the littlest one is going to be a witch (a real stretch). I used to sew all their costumes but discovered they liked the store bought better and I spent less money.

I’m dressing up but I’m not revealing what it is until after this weekend. I’m sewing it myself and the swearing has been profuse. I’m hoping to finish today.

I haven’t dressed up for Halloween for a long time. Wish I could still fit into my RenFaire costumes. That could be fun. Oh well.

Ah, Michelle! I didn’t like the power rangers at first at all either - but with three boys??? It grows on you. One year I complained - a lot — about having to pay so much for one of their costumes - but in the end it was one of my best purchases - he wore it every single day for over a year! That and spiderman and batman… he loved them all! Have fun this year!

My daughter does wonders with face paint and is always some kind of her own entity.

I help out at the American Legion and we give a party for the kids and then have an adult party. I also dress up to give out candy. I’m always a witch. I used to have long dark hair with a white patch so it always seemed fitting lol.

My son has always gone as a soldier. Every year. He doesn’t want to be anything different. But this year he decided he wanted to be something scary, so a mummy it is! :halloween:

I have a green power ranger too! And a red one! I’m with you. Totally not impressed. But they’re happy so so be it. :)

My 19 year old is at University and all the students LOVE dressing up. She went off to a party as a witch last night, then next week she’s going to be a pirate. Last week they had a pyjama party to which the guys wore slinky nightdresses.:D

My daughter is going to be a cheerleader (she’s 3) and my son is going to be Dracula (he’s 2). They had fun last year trick or treating so they’ll probably have even more fun since they understand it better.

    Have fun!

My younger niece is a princess this year and I think my nephews are ninjas of some sort - hard to tell from the photos my sis sent!

Not sure about the older niece - have to bug her parents for photos on Wednesday. LOVE the Yoda costume!
