Pumpkins
In case you haven’t seen it, the Harlequin Historicals authors have a blog now. I’m going to post more in-depth information on some of my Ireland research in case anyone is truly interested in all the little details. :blahblah:
I posted a little bit yesterday with a few more details you might not have seen here, so go check it out. You can even leave a comment so I don’t feel so alone. :loser:
Saturday was so much fun. I took my kids to the pumpkin patch and we bought the biggest pumpkin I’ve seen in a long time. What fun! I couldn’t lift it into the car, it was so big. It must be over 50 pounds.
I had to have my husband lift it out of the trunk. I don’t think this picture really does it justice, but at least you have an idea.
My other project was planting pansies. I love the fact that you can actually have flowers in wintertime in Virginia. It took a while to get them planted, but I’m pretty pleased with the results. The pink azaleas are Encore Azaleas that bloom in the fall.
What about you? Do you have any fall traditions in your household? (Among mine is raiding the Halloween candy stash before trick-or-treating. I’m so bad.) Have you gone pumpkin-shopping yet?

I usually head out to a pumpkin patch outside of town, but we haven’t done that yet with everything going on in life! I miss the pumpkins sitting on my front step!

Some family members:halloween: get together and carve pumpkins together - it started when my kids were young but even us old folk keep it up and whoever can make it at the time. This year it’s going to be my nephew and his wife, my sister, my mom (84), and my 19 year old daughter and her boyfriend.:halloween:

Jeanne–that sounds like a fun tradition! I like doing goofy pumpkins and scary ones, but my husband likes the traditional kind.
Kelly–I should have had the kids stand in front of it for scale!:bananadance:

The flowers look lovely
I can so relate to eating to the candy early

We usually don’t carve pumpkins. My kids aren’t really into it and we don’t get trick or treaters. A lit pumpkin goes unappreciated on my street.
Fall is a busy time for us with all of the kids activities plus Halloween, two birthdays and Thanksgiving.
I have pretty much demolished a bag of candy corn. Target’s brand is the best I’ve had in a long time.

A few hours after I posted my last comment, my parents drove up with two HUGE pumkins for the boys!

We’re living with my in-laws right now. I’ve no idea if they do a pumpkin - will have to ask *g*. BUT we actually have a terracotta cat/pumpkin combo we put out. In the first neighbourhood we lived in in Ontario, pumpkins ALWAYS were smashed, so we bought this instead and put it inside. Not sure where it is in storage :-/
We won’t see trick or treaters this year - the driveway here is a mile long. But NEXT year, we should (BETTER) be in our own house and THEN we’ll see kids again
LOVED your post at the HH blog - great pics!
