Celebrating a First Sale
My head is still spinning, you know? I feel the urge to :chocolate: dive into a box of chocolates and just roll around in it. This has been such a great weekend, more so because of everyone who has stopped by to send their good wishes. I am so very grateful to everyone for sharing this with me.
What’s next? Well, I need to start assembling ideas for cover art. My husband believes he should pose for the cover, Star Wars style, with a gigantic sword raised above his head similar to Luke Skywalker. Perhaps my heroine should drape herself at his feet. Uh, no, honey. Don’t think so. :starwars:
I’m also wondering mentally making a list of what to do next. There are so many things I want to do, it’s a matter of what to start with. Finishing the revisions on my second book is at the top of the list. :typing: After that, I want to make some updates to my website and maybe add a few features like a monthly contest.
And…speaking of which, I would like to host a contest in celebration of my first sale. This will be The Seven Days of a First Sale! Each day I’ll do a different book to give away and a little bit of chocolate as well!
For today, our first day, I’m giving away Lord of Sin by Madeleine Hunter. :hello2:
All you have to do is post a comment below, and you’re entered to win!
Since September 15 is now the Best Day Ever for me, what’s a special moment you had in your life that will always stand out?
Melissa Marsh Says:
I am just so darn thrilled for you, Michelle!
Let’s see…a good day for me was probably December 20th (around there, anyway) when I graduated with my master’s degree. It was definitely a thrilling moment.
I cannot WAIT to see your cover and more importantly, read your book!!!
Rene Says:
FINALLY!!!! You certainly deserve it. They’ve really put you through a wringer. Congratulations.
Ummm….moments that stand out? I guess there are 4 biggies, maybe 5. All but one centers around my kids. I’ll be cheesy and say their births although I don’t remember the 2nd one too much. Not sure why, I didn’t have any drugs. And the day I discovered my last pregnancy. Such a maelstrom of emotions.
Stacy Says:
YIPPEEEEEE!!!!

Congratulations, Michelle! Enjoy every minute of nerves and euphoria. The editing and cover art and author alteration process will seem like it’s taking forever right now, but the moment is really right around the corner when you’ll hold that first book in your hands. It’s never to early to picture yourself accepting that RITA for Best First Book either!

Michelle –
Don’t worry about the cover. If the recent covers for M&B H are anything to go by, they will do justice to your book.
I have been very impressed with the covers recently, so I am sure yours will no exception.
And I am pleased your weekend is so wonderful!!!
Cathie Says:
Huge congrats Michelle. I dearly love historicals and love to read new to me authors so I’ll be watching out for your book!
Poor hubby, maybe have him pose anyways for the fun of it. :dancingfool: That will make some memories for your first release
Allison Littlehales Says:
:woot:What a great idea, Michelle, a weeek long first sale fest!
It must be hard researching all those hunky actors for just the right one to send in for your cover.
Bonnie Ferguson Says:
Hmmm…well at the end of November it will be seven years since I started writing. That moment when I just put fingers to keyboard and decided to go for it stands out more in retrospect, but it was definitely a defining moment.
Still doing a happy dance for you, Michelle :shimmy:
Cara North Says:
Way to go! I am very excited for you! See you in November at the confrence.
Nicole Reising Says:
Hi Michelle!
I thought I’d pick something special that wasn’t an obvious – you know getting married, having kids… :coffee: One moment I treasure in my heart was just before my sister died. She was practicing on the piano and I walked by – stopped and gave her a big bear hug. I didn’t grow up in a demonstrative family, so this was highly unusual. I still remember her surprise and how she squeezed me back. I hope I never forget that moment.

Hmmmm, I’ll be boring and say my wedding day. Will never forget it. Though, assuming I get THE CALL, I’m pretty certain that will come a close second
