The Perfect Valentine’s Gift
You know, it’s funny how we were talking the other day about the Geeks Who Loved Us when we were young and stupid. Probably most of them are millionaires and pretty hunky.
The conversation made me laugh, because do you know what my darling husband bought me for Valentine’s Day? A hard drive.
Now get your minds out of the gutter. I have enough problems with Spam as it is. Ahem.
He bought an external hard drive with a USB port so I could back up my writing files and have more space on the computer. It has 200 GB of space.
Gotta love that.
I also received some chocolate and a lottery ticket.
So, all in all, a very nice Valentine’s Day.
Last, but not least, I received an e-mail from the editor I’m working with. She said that most likely a decision on my book would be made at the end of March. I really really hope she meant March 2006.
In the meantime, I’m 1/3 of the way finished with my revisions on a different book and I’m hoping to have that done by the end of this month. We’ll see. It needs some reconstructive surgery in places.
What did you get for Valentine’s Day?

beth Says:
You know, I got flowers sent to me at work for the first time ever in my life. It was awesome.
After 10 years of marriage, he finally clued in that I have had that secret desire to have something sent to me at work…I’m guessing my sister told him. Still, they’re very pretty - not as good as my gift last year though, which was a new kitchen faucet. (Seriously…I love my new faucet. So I totally get the hard drive thing. Hopefully you got the gutter mind version too though.
)
Bonnie Ferguson Says:
Sounds like you had a great Valentine’s Day
Ooh, Michelle, I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you until the end of March

Dorothy Says:
The boyfriend and I not to give in to materialism and do without giving each other presents. So, he comes home with a slushie machine (for him) and a dog grooming comb (for the dogs). What’s wrong with this picture? ;o)
Rene Says:
I didn’t get anything, then again, I didn’t give anything either. We did guzzle a nice bottle of champagne. I have an external hard drive and I love it. It’s very easy to use.
End of March? Sigh…hope its with good news after all this time.
Danica Says:
Wahoo congrats!!
I got a card made on the computer, and, wait for it… a messy house. Oh well, all I got him was a signed picture of us. LOL
Michelle Says:
Beth–Someday, maybe my husband will clue in on the flowers thing, too. I would loooove that. How sweet! LOL on the …er…other hard drive.
Bonnie and Kelly–thanks so much for the good luck wishes!
Rene–cool. I look forward to trying out the new hard drive. I’m saving our champagne for the end of March.
Sue–I haven’t seen P&P yet, but it looks wonderful! Can’t wait.
Dorothy–now, he should have at least brought home something for you!:fryingpan:
Danica–That Man needs to clean the house, methinks.
Melissa Says:
Ooh! An external hard drive! That will last a lot longer than flowers.
Stephanie Says:
I got flowers, but would have preferred the hard drive!
Fingers are crossed for you on the novel. I know it’s gonna happen for you, Michelle.
Stephanie
LauraP Says:
Fingers cross for that book. And you’re gonna love that hard drive! I sleep better at night knowing that in case of fire I just need to grab mine and run out the door.
Larissa Says:
Lessee…my mom gave me a coffee mug and a card, my son gave me $5 and a card *g* and my husband emailed me a Humane Society Valentine’s Day card where he said all kinds of mushy stuff.
We’ll make up Valentine’s Day when we see each other in a couple of months!:hello2:
Exciting that you heard SOMETHING on your revisions! I’ve got my fingers crossed that you hear something GOOD!
