Every woman needs a good nail gun…
Right now I feel empowered. Tonight my husband asked me to use the nail gun while he held up sheets of plywood on our new shed. Hot diggety!
If you’ve never used a nail gun, it’s the next best thing to having a real gun (not that I’ve ever shot a gun in my life, mind you).
But what fun! I was up on the 12-foot ladder, happily telling my husband, “A little to the left…now up half an inch. Right there!” Bang, bang!
It’s the little things in life, really.
The only downside is that it has that built in safety where you could never actually shoot nails at people. I keep this in mind for the potential moment where some yahoo might go after my kids–KAPOW! So I’d basically have to hold him down while I’m pressing the nail gun to his head and shooting. A little tip, for those of you who have never used a nail gun.
But back to the whole construction thing. One of the best aspects of a building project is having something tangible to show for it. So here it is, in all its unfinished glory:

Robyn Says:
Ah, yes. I discovered power tools a few years ago. “No, honey! Let ME fix the sink!”
Funny how changing the showerhead makes you feel like an Amazon warrior!
Amy K. Says:
LOL about holding the attacker down. Very good to know, indeed.
Bonnie Ferguson Says:
The shed is looking good, Michelle
Rene Says:
My dh would NEVER let me touch his nail gun. If I use one of his screw drivers, he’ll call me from work, saying he felt “a disturbance in the Force.” Truly, he is so protective of his tools. His tools are his treasures. It’s pretty funny.
Like the shed. It will be great when it’s done.
Melissa Says:
My hubby loves his power tools, as well. I generally stay away from them, though.
Shed looks great!
Christina Says:
And who thought that women could never enjoy power tools? MEN!http://michellewillingham.com/blog/wp-images/smilies/confused68.gif Why? So they could have them all to themselves! I LOVE a good drill and an electric sander.
Christina Says:
sorry ’bout that. Sometime I can get the smilies in and sometimes I can’t
Mary Says:
I love power tools–even a hammer makes me feel macho.
Missie Says:
Go, Michelle, you power packin’ mama, you!
I would love to learn how to use a nail gun and other power tools, but only doing a project I WANT to do, not one that actually needs to be done. The projects that need doing? That’s what I have a husband for.
Danica Says:
Would you like to come to my house? We have a variety of projects needing someone to operate the nail gun.
Oh, and yes you can shoot someone with a nail gun. I learned that courtesy of my brothers and DH, who worked construction together. I don’t know the specifics of how it was accomplished, but apparently, someone shot my brother in the rear end with one.
