Halloween
Okay, I am a complete pile of Mommy-goo right now. My youngest daughter just melted my heart.
We went out trick-or-treating, her brother dressed as Yoda, and she was in her stroller dolled up like a pumpkin. At the first house, she hung back, not sure what was going on. Then when she was offered candy, they tried to put it in her plastic bucket. Her eyes widened and she wanted to hold it. Only when she was sure I wasn’t going to take it, did she allow me to put it in the bucket.
At the next house, they held out a tray and let her choose. Instead of one piece, my darling pumpkin reached in with both mitts, in complete chocolate adoration (it’s hereditary).
I made her put some of it back and she managed to say, “Tank oo” (thank you).
Third house–she wanted to say “Trick or treat” like the other kids, but just couldn’t get her mouth around it. Instead she looked the neighbors in the eye and chatted, “Da da da da da…tank oo! Bye bye!” and after giggling, she stuffed the candy in her bucket and trotted off.
She had an absolute blast and I was just dying, watching her try to be a big girl. Sniffle.
I’m going to blink and she’ll be walking down the aisle. ![]()

Aww, what a sweetie! Let’s not talk about them growing up, please!!
Katie Says:
Sniffle. What a sweet age!!
Kelly Says:
That is too cute! I only had about three rude kids last night and a bunch of really cute ones in great costumes. I actually had one kid dressed as Yoda who said ‘do you know who I am’. Shah, you dare question my Star Wars knowledge. I was there for the original theatre showing, you little ankle biter. ‘Wow…’ he says, like you’d have to have one foot in the grave to manage that one.
Mary Says:
Ah, that’s cute. I didn’t get one trick or treater
Rene Says:
That is so cute. What’s really great is that people think they are so adorable, they give them more candy and they give them the good stuff.
I’ll be blinking back tears when my girls walk down the aisle (I figure the older one will be doing this 2 or 3 times) but probably in relief.
Bonnie Ferguson Says:
Awww Michelle,
That’s sooo sweet
Melissa Says:
What a wonderful memory, Michelle.
Tori Says:
No, no, no! She can’t walk down the aisle any time soon. I mean, c’mon, I remember when you were still in high school! :confused2: And THAT makes me feel old enough, thanks.
Larissa Says:
Awww, that’s so cute. I just love that age!
Christina Says:
Yes, it’s adorable! I had older kids who should know better (like 10, 11 y/o) reaching in and trying to take everything, then going back for more. I was like, Um, HELLO…BACK OFF!
I had a skipping darth vader!:rotfl:
Danica Says:
Awe how cute!! I love having kids the same age. Kay did about the same, although she never would say anything, except give a pissed off cry of protest when I pried her off of people’s candy bowls.
Michele Says:
What a wonderful age.:goodvibes:
Isn’t it great that you’ve journaled it here. When she walks down the aisle, you’ll have printed all these moments in a book of all the wonderful milestones in her life with the comments of all the people who have watched her grow through the years.
Of course, that is an AMAZING number of blogs!!!!She’s got , what 25 years to go?
LauraP Says:
That first Halloween is so fun! It’s just amazing. You ring doorbells and people give you candy! Wow!
Stacy Says:
My little one is two and he was one of the Wiggles complete with a guitar. At the door he’d say ‘Rick or Reat’ then give a little wiggle dance before he left! It was hysterial and I loved every moment!:rotfl:
Margery Says:
Aww, how adorable!! I do miss those days when they were cute and funny.
