TGIF!

It’s Friday! :dancingfool:

2 days, 2 chapters revised. Hope I’m clobbering these characters into shape. It’s such a hard balance between toning down my Irish warrior to make him more “GRRR!” and yet keeping him a sympathetic character. I think I’m getting there, though.

At school, I’ve had to collect numerous bits of paperwork, each one asking the same information (address, phone, emergency contacts, etc. etc.). While my son isn’t school age yet, I can see the mountains of forms coming. I was thinking it might be just as easy for parents to print out a sheet of large adhesive labels with the information already typed, and just peel each one off and slap them on the forms. It would save so much time. Or they should computerize the process. :typing:

Anyway, tomorrow I will be engaged in a religious experience. Notre Dame, my alma mater, is playing Michigan. Kick-off starts at noon. My religious mantra will be prayer for our defense and the hopes of victory. Go Irish! :hello2:

Are you, or is anyone in your family, a sports fan? What teams do you like to watch?

Mmmm…Irish warrior…that certainly caught my attention. Whew…is it getting warm in here?? Good luck with the revisions!

  2. Sharon Says:

    We’re football fanatics here. :headbang:

  3. Caro Says:

I sometimes joke that the reason I moved from Texas to California is because I don’t like football and was run out of the state as a heretic. :cheer:

  4. Mary Says:

I hated the mounds of paper work when I taught. Too much.

  5. Melissa Says:

I’ve filled out a ton of paperwork for both of my kids. The adhesive labels sound like a great idea.
We’re Husker fans here - Nebraska Cornhuskers. Isn’t that the dorkiest name ever? But it’s all this state has, so it is BIG. I’m not nearly as big of a fan as my hubby, especially since I graduated from Husker University (UNL) and had to deal with the sports program taking priority over, well, pretty much everything else.

    Sports? Would chicken-chasing count?

As for school paperwork, I did the stick-on label thing when my 3 were all in elementary school. It must have embarrassed them because by upper elementary the papers were already filled out and ready for my signature when the kids presented them to me.

So is the moral of the story ‘embarrass your kids so you can do less tedious paperwork’?

  7. Amy K. Says:

My mom is a huge sports fan. And all of my family is big on Kansas basketball. (My mom is best at cheering AGAINST teams she hates…she’s got a vindictive side. I won’t tell you her opinion of ND.):confused2:

  8. Melissa Mc Says:

My hubby loves the NY Jets and the NY Yankess. I’m partial to the SF 49ers and the SF Giants.

    Hope ND wins!

  9. Tori Says:

I hate football and basketball. I used to be a big baseball fan (go, Cardinals!) but I haven’t watched much of that lately. Love to watch the Olympics, though. I’ll watch even the strangest sports then. :rotfl:

  10. Gina Says:

Everyone in my family is huge into sports. Brother coaches. Dad watches religiously. Personally, I’m a football nut. Pro football is back which makes me happy. I’m a Colts and Rams fan, but I also support my local are Arizona Cardinals. Not so much into college football, but I still support my alma mater, Arizona State University.

  11. Margery Says:

No football fans here. Dh loves hockey fan (he’s in withdrawal), doesn’t mind baseball, and watches golf (which isn’t a sport, imo). Teams we watch: Toronto!!! Blue Jays and Maple Leafs.:cheer:

  12. Danica Says:

No sports fans here. I’d rather be reading. :book:

  13. Peggy Says:

Not a sport fan. May watch the last game of the Stanley Cup (if it ever returns), but otherwise, stay away from sports as humanly possible.

As for school forms. I have signed my name so many bloody times this week, I don’t know if I’ve agreed to hand over my first born! I swear, do they honestly think I read all those bloody forms!!! Like I have nothing better to do? Worse, most of them came from my teenager. I think the kid is old enough to figure out a freekin’ study schedule, I shouldn’t have to write a one page, detailed description of how she’s going to do that! Yep, that was actually one of the requirements. I told her to write it, and I’ll sign. And, I’m sorry, but if I get another one of those, “Hi, I’m your child’s such-and-such teacher, and our program for this term is blah, blah, blah!” Oh for pity’s sake, save a tree! What do they expect? For me to run down to the libray and get as much information on the subject as possible before she begins? Heck, that’s why she’s in school for! Okay, sorry, a little over board there!

  14. Christine Keach Says:

HUGE baseball and football fans in my family! My brother and I are die-hard Patriots and Red Sox fans. Then we and my step brothers and step father all love University of Texas Longhorns. Mom, of course, hates it all…

  15. Christine Keach Says:

PS—My dad was a huge Notre Dame fan, so I root for them whenever I can as well, sort of honoring his memory!

  16. ValMarie Says:

I’m not a big sports fan, although I enjoy watching it with friends, so I don’t really follow anyone. I also arbitrarily choose what team I pick as my favorite in any given year. *shrug*

However, I DO watch the Army-Navy football game every year. My mom, father, and step-father were all Marines and my Dad graduated from the Anapolis Naval Academy. It’s the one game I really ger into.

    GO NAVY! :-)
