Cue the Rocky Music
Okay, it’s that time. Cue the Rocky Soundtrack. I have outlined in anal-retentive detail the remainder of my book, and I’m ready for that last blast-through to the end. If all goes well (fingers crossed), I’ll have the book done by the weekend. Then it’s onto a few revisions (I’ve been revising as I go), and I’ll be done!
Can’t wait. There’s just no better feeling than finishing a book. Maybe I’ll even have to go to Philadelphia, run up the library steps and start waving my fists in triumph.
Or not.
My son was bouncing off the walls today. He’ll get to attend his first gymnastics class. I’ve never seen anyone so excited. He went to a birthday party once where they had tumbling and play, and he never forgot it. That was nearly a year ago. Hopefully he’ll have fun.
When I was in high school, gymnastics was the sport I chose. I must be masochistic. :confused2: I couldn’t even do the splits (still can’t) and the hardest trick I could do was a cartwheel. But there were all of seven people on the team, and they didn’t really make any cuts, so I made it. I never competed my first year, except for one exhibition. I had so much fun, though, I kept taking lessons at a local gym and finally got good enough to compete my senior year. Now mind you, this is still not all that good. I learned how to do back handsprings and my routines were AVERAGE. But I had so much fun, and there was something exciting about learning new skills and becoming stronger and more flexible (and no, I never did get the splits, though I came awfully close. I think my body just doesn’t go that way).
I would love to try an adults gymnastics class. Of course, I’d probably kill myself, but I have such fond memories of my high school years, it would be a lot more interesting than step aerobics. :headspin:
What’s your favorite kind of exercise?

Peggy Says:
I can sincerely say I hate all forms of excercise. Though I enjoy sports that don’t remind me I am getting a workout. Hiking, tennis,…okay, that’s all I can think of!
kacey Says:
I like yoga, or walking, or hiking in the mountains when I get the chance to go there.
Kelly B Says:
I think sports was the only thing that kept me from quitting school. Back in high school I played soccer, ringette, swam and ran track. Then I’d sign up for any inter-murals they had going. Even badminton, which I’m not sure qualifies as an actual sport but it killed an hour. Today I’m working towards my black belt in tae kwon do and playing softball in the summer. Or as we like to call it - slob ball. Both are a lot of fun and TKD lets me kick and punch things without getting arrested.

Teresa Says:
Good luck on the plan and the gymnastics class.
My favorite workouts? Walking/hiking would have to be one of them. Taebo(or anything gets my blood really pumping). Yoga.
Mary Says:
A few years back I tried an adult gymnastics class–I couldn’t walk for 3 days.
Rene Says:
I love the elliptical machine at my gym. I do about 50 mins. three times a week on that thing. Also like lifting weights. I enjoy walking too and playing soccer with the kids although it is humiliating when I get burned by the five year old.
Sharon Says:
My favorite sport is sleeping.
And outlining in anal retentive fashion? You’re giving me hives!
Jill Says:
I thought exercise was a dirty word. Cute pic.
Tori Says:
Exercise and me. We don’t speak. Sometimes, though it’s very rare, I will jump up and dance around the room if a bouncy
song comes on, but usually my most strenuous exercise is typing.
Melissa Says:
WTG on the book, Michelle! “You can do it!”
My favorite form of exercise? Yuck. I HATE exercise. But I do love to take really long walks with my dog. Also love to play tennis, although I haven’t done that in years.
Steph T. Says:
Is it me or did you finish that book in record time? Because I feel like you just started it…
As for exercize - walking on my treadmill with my MP3 player blasting loud music. It’s where I get some of my best writing ideas.
I missed so many of your posts while I was away - must go read through them now.
Danica Says:
What a cutie!!
When I remember to, my exercise of choice is yoga. I used to be in gymnastics, but when using my swingset as bars to practice on, I fell and broke my arm. It’s never been strong enough to use since. I had Bay in gymnastics for a while, but then they got a new teacher who I don’t think works well with kids, so I pulled her. I may have to check and see if she’s still there or not, because I think it’s good for the kids to learn the skills they get in gymnastics.
Suzanne Says:
Walking and jogging. I love to get outside!!
Christine Keach Says:
I love kickboxing and racquetball. Not that I’m doing either one lately.
As for the Rocky stairs…it’s harder than it looks. I went to Philly just for that (Mom asked where I wanted to go. I said on a pilgrimage[sp?] to Rocky!) I only got halfway up and I had to stop for a break. When I started up again, I went a lot slower. When I reached the top, I was all but crawling up those last few steps. But the view was definitely worth it!
Michelle Says:
Christine–I can believe it on the Rocky stairs! It does look like quite a hike.
Rene-LOL on being whipped by five-year-olds. Now why is it I can relate to this?
Steph T.–I’m in high gear right now, trying to finish. I must have the book done before school starts..MUST!
Everyone–I agree with you on the exercise. It’s not something I typically enjoy. But if I want those cookies…well…
