Checking in from Nashville

Hey guys! Just thought I’d take a moment to check in from Nashville.

We arrived Friday morning (I convinced my wonderful husband that driving twelve hours straight with two children under age 4 was a BAD idea–he concurred) and spent the first day with relatives. It was great to be able to kick back and relax with family.

The next night we took a driving tour of downtown Nashville. I’ve decided that I should probably buy a house there. We saw Johnny Cash’s house on the lake and several other lakefront properties that I would swipe up in a moment. I love house hunting for my dream house. Especially ones I can’t afford. :rocker: Guess I’d better start working on those bestselling novels! (And yes, amazingly, I have squeezed in three pages worth of work since I arrived. :typing: Not a lot, but for a vacation–hey, I’ll take what I can get.)

We drove by the Grand Ole Opry and some of the honky tonks downtown. Wish we could have gone out for a night on the town, but the babies just weren’t up for that. Still, it was fun. It occurred to me that even if I did run into someone famous, I probably wouldn’t recognize them.

Anyway, two blog questions for you. One, are you a house-hunter like me? What’s your dream house like? And two, have you ever met anyone famous? Who was it, and how did it happen?

I LOVE looking at houses. Expensive houses. My dh’s aunt and I go out on Sundays and look at houses. My criteria for looking is they need to be over $700K before I look. I really like my house. I like the design, the size, the location. The think I don’t like about it is the kitchen. But that can be remedied. The flooring sucks in the downstairs too, but eventually that will be replaced. What I don’t like is the fact the whole thing is kid-oriented. Everything is designed to be withstood or ruined by children. When they grow up and get into high school, I am hiring an interior designer and making the place look great.

I can’t think of any famouse people I’ve met. I’ve seen a few: I live close to L.A. so when I hung around West L.A. with a friend of mine, we’d see celebrities but I never met them. I’ve met some professional athletes and dh represented a major league baseball manager, but those aren’t very exciting.

BTW, your entry is up at Romance Junkies. I haven’t gotten a chance to read it. Here’s the link: http://www.contestjunkies.com/artman/publish/article_211.php

Oh…my dream house. That would take me an entire page to answer! I love to look at houses, although I haven’t went and looked at any open houses lately. I love older homes, though.

I LOVE looking at houses! Definitely a house-hunter. My dream house would be huge, with lots of windows and a GIANT kitchen.

I’ve met a lot of famous people because I worked on the set of a movie, and I visited the set of Star Trek; TNG. I also attend Star Trek conventions, because I’m a big geek, so I’ve met nearly every Star Trek actor! :loser:

Rene–I love the multimillion-dollar houses. Ohh! :hungry: I want one. On Romance Junkies, I’m curious as to how/if you ever find out your scores. Technically I’m not suppose to advertise the fact that my entry is up since I’m using my name on it. But I wanted to see what people’s reactions might be.

Melissa–older homes have so much character, don’t they?

Larissa–Oooh! Star Trek actors. What fun! I’d love to hear some of your stories. :hello2:

Hey, I think Johnny Cash’s house is up for sale! You should snap it up. ;)

I love looking at dream houses! :hello2: My dream house changes fairly often. Or it used to. For the last year or so I’ve been lusting after a penthouse condo in a certain high-rise building in Vegas. And a castle/manor house in England. If I’m gonna dream, I’m gonna dream BIG.

Let’s see… who have I met… when I lived in Tucson a lifetime ago I used to go to the celebrity tennis tournaments they had. Very little security so you could get up close and personal with everybody. Off the top of my head, I got autographs & pictures with Lyle Waggoner, some actresses who were on General Hospital at the time, Tony Danza, Christopher Atkins (remember Blue Lagoon with Brooke Shields?), and the very best, Richard Dean Anderson. Oooo, dreamy! :)

I love looking at houses… I’m a house hunter fanatic.

My dream house is built around a courtyard (have never seen such a house mind you, but surely it must exist). The first floor is all living space, the second floor all bedrooms, and the attic is a huge library. Think the movie, My Fair Lady, and that’s how I want it decorated. It would be fun to make it a two story library, like in the movie, I just haven’t figured out how to make it work. :book: I also want a finished basement. All the rooms will open up into the courtyard. The courtyard will be full of plants and have a fountain in it. I see it as a very tranquil place. In the back yard, I want a huge garage, named the ugly garage, for DH to put all of his junk and weird things he brings home that I want nothing to do with.

Hey!! Vacation sounds like it’s going great!

I’m not a big shopper AT ALL - including houses. I get kind of bored easily. *g*

Hi Michelle! Couldn’t resist this one! My dream home is actually just up the road. It’s a beautiful Italian style victorian villa with an indoor pool, coachhouse, fireplace in all the bedrooms and boasts something like twenty acres. It is actually on the market right now and asking a measly 1.4 million! So I guess I should get writing that blockbuster, eh! LOL

I have met a few famous people (at least famous to me!). Meghan Follows who played Anne Shirley in Anne of Green Gables (a Canadian produced mini-series). Christopher Plummer (dad in the Sound of Music). And David James Elliott (the sexy-drop-dead-gorgeous JAG guy). You can guess who my favourite was!!!

    Peggy

  9. Michelle Says:

Peggy–Anne of Green Gables is one of my all-time favorite movies. Love it!! :) And yum on David James Elliott. :hungry:
