The Dinner Blahs
I finished reading my book, revisions are done, and today is printing and typo-hunting day. All right!
In other topics, do you ever find that you’re facing dinnertime, you have thirty minutes or less to get dinner ready, and you stare into the freezer thinking–No way do I want to eat that? I go through phases like this. I stare at the neatly wrapped frozen hamburger packages and the idea of making spaghetti, meatloaf, or tacos makes me want to run for the nearest Chick-Fil-A. Nothing looks good or sounds appetizing.
Sometimes I hit upon a brilliant solution–rip off a major restaurant’s meal. Like the time I found the recipe for Houlihan’s Baked Potato Soup. Or the time I found the recipe for Fajitas like Chilis. Let me tell you, I have never made Fajitas out of the box since. You just can’t beat the taste of marinated, grilled meat. OMG. Seriously, try out these recipes. They’re to die for.
But I find myself getting bored again. I need a new recipe to rip off. So that leads me to the next question for you all–when you eat out at a restaurant, what is a meal you buy all the time and love?

Lately the only meal I get ‘out’ is happy and comes in a box. :help:
But back when I could eat out – there is one place in town with The Best twice baked potatoes. I just can’t get them to come out like that at home. Love them.

 Well pizza is more of an eat in. It’s still a favorite though. I like Mexican food
And of course for something a little less um, caloric, I like Swiss Chalet. Lovely chicken, caesar salad, baked potato (or french fries if I’m in the mood for that).:jumping:

Chicken enchiladas, homemade guacamole, a bag of corn chips and I’m in heaven. A person could get me to do anything — anything! — for a meal like that.
Mary Says:
I love food. Had a great shrimp scampi last night. Heaven

We’re very weird around my house. We sit down and eat a meal maybe once a week. Otherwise, we all sort of much on stuff. Hey, it’s summer – the kids are out playing and don’t want to stop to eat. Hubby slow-cooked a turkey on Monday, so we have turkey to eat for sandwiches and everything else. He’s the cook, not me.
Jill Says:
I can’t wait to try that soup recipe. Dinners are BORING around here …
Rene Says:
Umm…when I go out I go for three different things..sushi, prime rib and shellfish. I won’t make sushi or prime rib at home and dh is deathly allergic to fish, so I don’t usually have it at home. Hubby is a great cook and I’m not bad myself so we don’t eat out a whole lot.

My latest kick is chicken tamales I found at the deli counter of the local health food store. Mmmm. Having them for dinner tonight. I want the recipe for them so I can make them with something besides chicken.

Showing my roots, I’d have to say the chicken-fried steak dinner at Chili’s. OMG. Angus beef. Twice-baked potatoes. Broccoli or corn. Garlic bread.
Mmmmmm. Mmmmmmm. And then Mmmmmmm some more.
Reality? Chicken breast sandwiches, and chips or a salad. It’s summer. And I don’t cook much during that time. But when school starts, it’s time for slow-cookers and stuff.
And when we take the kids to Golden Corral-:rotfl:-you’ve never seen plates such as these. They have pizza, chicken, corn, potatoes, and all sorts of things piled onto one plate.

I haven’t eaten out much since I moved here. But I used to love, love, love Boston Market and Black Eyed Pea. Yum!
Suzanne Says:
This is so boring, but what I love is a big juicy hamburger (from a real restaurant, not fast food–though that has its place, too, LOL) and fries!
kacey Says:
Man, a hamburger cooked on a grill. And GOOD onion rings. And an ICE COLD beer. My favorite is a Heidelburger from, you guessed it, the Heidelburg
I also like thin crust pizza, a favorite around here.
